The choice of technology for the new site. Derby or Backbone + PlayFramework?

I want to make a new service, but I still can’t decide on the technology. There will be enough interactivity on the site, so on the client I want to uniquely structure everything using the MVC framework. The question remains regarding the server side. I plan the interaction between the server and the client using the RESTfull api. In your opinion, which technology can provide a good foundation for development, taking into account the fact that the service will develop and additional functions will need to be screwed on? And it is also interesting how successfully these technologies will cope with a high load?

AngularJS. And so there is no difference, depending on how smoothly / crookedly write.
