The best webserver for PHP sites on a low power server?
I have a low power server. 512 MB RAM, 1 processor core, OpenVZ. What is better to put for a couple of sites in PHP with a small load? I think Nginx or Lighttpd via php-fpm, but I heard that Apache is faster and eats less RAM. Some more write that Lighttpd eats a lot of RAM, others say that it is not enough. How to be? I'm confused.

You can try Litespeed. The free version has support for .htaccess rewrites
Nginx + php-fpm
Quietly runs in 512mb. If you want to be even more economical, then build a custom version of Nginx with only the necessary modules
