The best ASP.NET book from scratch

Actually the question is formulated in heading. You need a quick (relatively) introduction to how ASP.NET works, how to design a site, use standard components / classes, create new, custom controls, etc. Google, of course, gives out a certain list of books, but I would like to get the name of the most adequate ones (you can also in English), so as not to waste time on notorious slag (for some reason, the “For Dummies” series comes to mind :) )

An excellent series of lessons, where each step is analyzed in great detail.

Good afternoon!
On MVC - totally agree with Neir0 - "ASP .NET MVC Framework with C# Examples" by Stephen Sanderson.
On WebForms - despite the fact that the book proposed by dmomen - "Developing Web Applications in the ASP.NET 2.0 Environment. Task-Project-Solution" is more applied (throughout the book there is 1 cross-cutting project on which ASP.NET WebForms is studied ), I would advise you to start with "Microsoft ASP.NET 4 with examples in C # 2010 for professionals" (or newer) - after all, there are the basics of ASP.NET + ASP.NET WebForms, without which, of course, you can develop on ASP.NET but knowledge will be lacking.
+ another site www.asp.net with many different step-by-step and understandable tutorials (I myself studied ASP.NET WebForms + EF on it)
If you have time, I would advise (based on personal experience) the following sequence of your actions:
1) "Microsoft ASP.NET 4 with C# 2010 examples for professionals" (or newer)
2) "ASP .NET MVC3 Framework with C# examples " (or newer)
3) well, the asp.net site is already according to the situation. Again, he helped me when developing a freelance project on ASP.NET WebForms + EntityFramework. Plus, this site has well-written tutorials on ASP.NET WebAPI.
Concerning MSDN is purely subjective. For example, it is difficult for me to perceive the information that is there, but for my colleague it is much easier. It's already your choice. But you have to look there to find out some subtleties.
Good luck!

msdn.microsoft.com/ru-ru/asp.net/default
well, why not a resource for you, now I always climb on msdn if anything. There, after all, it is better than everywhere it is written about everything.
And if there is no Russian translation according to technology, then a book of course - which would be more convenient, and so when you already understand what the feature is, without thinking, Google overseas resources.
