TeX/LaTeX Tutorial

Please tell me some sane tutorial on the subject, which would also talk about tools and how to assemble tools for compiling documents, choosing what you need, without pumping out 3GB of incomprehensible libs.

Are you not on a Mac? If yes, then instead of a two-gigabyte TeXLive, you can take BasicTeX only 69 MB - and there is almost everything you need.

projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/texlive-bin
This builds the minimum toolkit in arch, look in the build() function.
According to libraries - yes, somewhere it all weighs like that.

I have arch at home, the whole texlive takes less than a gigabyte. Not so much, given that it is better to immediately install all the potentially necessary packages than to look for where to download the required package from.

Now there is a whole heap of online editors and compilers. They don't need anything but a browser. Papeeria , ShareLaTeX , writeLaTeX for example.
