Target in Makefile that matches the name of the file

The project has a Makefile that has a static target. Nearby lies a file called static.sh.
When you call make static , the goal succeeds, but a static file (identical in content to static.sh) also appears.

In general, it is approximately clear what it is and where it comes from, but how to deal with it? Apart from renaming static.sh to something else (and renaming the target in the makefile).
