Take a ready-made solution or write it yourself? Where is the edge?
Colleagues, share your experience, how do you decide to take a ready-made solution and refine it for the client or write everything from scratch?

To be honest, it depends on the situation. It is necessary to look at each specific case: what will take longer, what will be more expensive, what the client needs, licensing conditions for a ready-made solution, support conditions.
The main problem is that when you take a ready-made solution and understand its architecture during the day, that how it should be served in the evening you think "damn, I would have managed to write everything in this time" but at first it's not obvious, everything seems easy.
I prefer what is easier to take and integrate into a large system, and what is more difficult to write myself so that there would be no black box later.
