Tabs versus spaces

Someone uses tabs to format the code, someone uses spaces. I know - a matter of taste, but still wondering what are the arguments for and against? Do you follow this at all? And in what environment do you write?

For tabs - that you can adjust the size of the indents. The thing against tabs is that you need to indent with tabs and align with spaces, otherwise, with other tab width settings, the alignment will deteriorate, and there will definitely be someone in the team who formats the code incorrectly. Also against tabs is that you sometimes have to work with code not only in your favorite IDE, but also in various terminal emulators, diff utilities, etc., and in some of these programs a huge tab size of 8 spaces is set, and it does not is configured, which makes it very inconvenient to read the code.
