Synchronization on an Android device without Google services?

There is an Android device (2.1), something like a tablet.
There are no Google applications on it, including the market (instead of the market there is AppsLib).
Task: I want to synchronize contacts with Google. Or something big enough.
I looked at a few softins for SyncML, but they are all tied to their own services.

If the device is rooted, then you can try flashing Google apps separately:

This is for cyanogenmod, but you can try.

It is possible to try to synchronize through Exchange. Not sure if it's in pure 2.1. For 2.2, the sequence is as follows
1) Settings, Accounts, Add, Corporate
2) Enter your email and password
3) Enter your Google login, password, change the server field to m.google.com

There is a free utility - My Phone Explorer. It seems that she knows how to synchronize the handset not only with herself, but also with a Google account.
By the way, it also has the ability to synchronize via Wi-Fi, which is also very convenient.
