Symfony vs Kohana (After CI)?

Good afternoon… I
developed 5 projects on CI, I want to try something new… I’m struggling with the choice of what to write a new project on… I
want to give up CI, because these two frameworks are considered better than CI… Well, also a new line in the resume and expand my outlook...
requirements:
- desired maximum speed, CI was chosen because of its speed
- support for the old PHP is not needed, and it will probably even be a minus, for extra code
- ease of transition from CI
- framework functionality
- MVC, difference in template engines?
Who will say what?

As a fan of CodeIgniter, I can recommend YII to you. As a pragmatic programmer, I will recommend the same thing - YII :)
Kohana - great, but "yesterday".
Symfony is beautiful, but “the year before last” in the literal sense.
YII is amazingly excellent, and will be convenient tomorrow and a year from now.

Given that Kohana was originally a fork of CI, the answer is obvious based on your requirements. Although Kohana has become a completely independent project, there is a clear connection with CI. Symfony, on the other hand, is a completely different topic, the entry threshold is much higher than that of Kohana, and with a swoop you are unlikely to understand what's what. I myself initially used CI, then I tried Yii and Kohana. I lean more towards the second.
So out of curiosity, why is there no Yii in the candidates?

Well, if “ease of transition from CI” is really important to you, then the choice is obvious.

Worked with all three. My choice is Symfony. Everything is very logical and thought out, a large community, there is a great influence of ZF. Although the second version, to be honest, completely amazed me. This is a completely new approach.

Only symphony, after 1-2 projects on it, you will forget like a bad dream all these creations, like CI, Kohana etc. Unless, I advise you to start with 1.4, do not touch the second one yet - it is very difficult to understand and start using it effectively, especially if you do not see the first branch. And google the Jobeet tutorial - I have never seen better documentation for frameworks, and even in Russian.

I'm more interested in why there is no ZF in the list, which fully satisfies the requests.

look at fuelphp this is the work of the guys from ci but already competently with the namespace, there are orms, there are modules and cascading, in general, all the beauty of the laconicism of ci.
