Switch from Java Android to PHP?
Hello, friends!
I am an engineer by training, but not an IT specialist. Learned java for android at home. I wrote my own applications, then I got a job in a small company (in Minsk) and worked there for six months, I also wrote applications for the market. With a fairly weighty interface and client-server part.
He left because the pay was low (at the end there was no money to rent an apartment), but he could not find another job. And I felt that I was a little tired from constant work for 10 hours. Constant digging, corrections.
I abandoned it all and left to work in my specialty in my city. 3 years have passed.
Now it seems to me that I made a mistake at the beginning - I should have chosen php.
So much talk about the low threshold of entry. And php has always had many more vacancies! Even now, I don’t see vacancies for android junes. For php more than 10. Maybe take it? :)
Experienced guys - your opinion is very interesting

Hello.
Do not listen to the fact that there is a lot of competition in the market and high requirements for specialists. The main requirement of the customer is experience and responsibility, no matter what you specialize in - php or java, or even the most banal html layout.
All employers say at once that they have a shortage of IT specialists in all areas. But due to the situation that has developed today, when every second medical student knows how to make landing pages, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find smart specialists.
My advice to you. Work for a couple of years in your specialty, without straining, take freelance orders according to your profile. Then try to get a job in another company (in which you will be respected), but on more favorable terms for you - after all, you will have much more experience and competencies than now - whether you like it or not! :) You will definitely be accepted - after all, you will have a portfolio and experience. The job will find you if you devote yourself to what you love - java/php/python/html-css/js/hardware - ALL THIS IS VERY IN DEMAND. Maybe not specifically in your city, but in general in the Russian-speaking world - EXACTLY YES!
Good luck!
What kind of myth is this from the 10s about the low threshold in php? Low threshold compared to what? With neural networks in Python and C++?? Also say that it only turns out shitty code.
Yes, you can write something simple in php without deep knowledge, but what you can write will not be considered in any way! Junes are now required to have knowledge of mvc, classes, one framework, mysql, work with pdo, knowledge of json, the ability to work with api and its development, and even preferably a portfolio and half a year off. work.
Entering the php market is no easier than entering the java android, django, node js or js market.
For php more than 10
1. remote work is our everything
2. choose the language in which you feel comfortable writing
3. if you become a "pro" in any language, then there will always be work, usually it is more than you have time - I know a person who makes good money coding on cobol) )
whatever you choose, at first you will have to work 15 hours a day in the same way.
PHP is a very specialized thing, a jun who only knows php will die of hunger, he needs to know at least mysql, css and jquery, but since this is the most despised stack among web programmers, any student from 10b will be better than you and you will have years of sleepless nights watching various lessons to get around them. And before that it all depends on luck if you're lucky and you get into an office that actively uses frameworks and well, if it's not a highload but teaches you how to skillfully build sql queries, then in a year you can count on good growth, but most of them stick with studios that stamp the same type of sites on opencart and wordpress and then maybe in 5 years you will realize that you were wasting your time.
Java is a worthy language, even I would give up everything))) and trainees would go to a reputable company, because in Java, whatever one may say, but the salary is higher than in PHP
