this is a very primitive method ... I advise you to read about echo signals, cepstrum.
at one time wrote a thesis on this topic. Echoes with multiple delays + additional data for error recovery (in my case, it was a Reed-Solomon code) + primitive digital signature. I hid the data in a signal, played it back on the phone, recorded it with a voice recorder and restored it from the recording, which is much more interesting than binding to the format and working with low bits.
