Startups and Git?

The question is purely theoretical. Let's say a startup idea was born in my head and I started implementing it in Git in an open repository. Well, let's say like-minded people work and everything is fine. But what if someone uses the idea and opens a clone repository for me, and starts developing it as their own branch without my consent? This is a theory, but I wonder if this happens and what they do in such cases.

Depending on the license specified in the project.
For free licenses - rejoice and offer to be friends with families. Or, they do nothing. This is called a fork. One of the most important postulates of free software.
For non-free licenses - ask the copyists. All sorts of DCMA requests to remove the fork repository and other strange things.
