Sports programming, where to start?

I am a beginner in this business. I try to train on codeforces.ru, but things don’t go beyond the first two tasks, there is a lack of knowledge and skills. I write in C++. Please advise how the situation can be improved. Thank you.

The whole difficulty is that you can perfectly know algorithms and data structures, but you will not be able to solve problems. Try to solve R. Graham, D. Knuth, O. Patashnik - Concrete Mathematics. The main nuance is that classical algorithms are practically not applicable in Olympiad problems. And it's not that they don't work or work.

At our university there was a circle on Olympiad programming. It was fun even though I wasn't up to par. Maybe you should try it too =)
