Spend an hour looking for a solution to a problem or get an answer on the service in 5 minutes?

All the time I was interested in the conflict between those who ask and those who answer. Which is better: to spend 1 hour searching for a solution to the problem and litigation on the Internet, or to ask a question on the service and get an answer within 5-10 minutes? I agree that during the work process, you should try to look for solutions in order to minimize the distraction of colleagues. But what to do here?

And you can approach this issue mathematically and find a simple solution:
1. Google - 5-10 minutes.
2. If you haven't googled, ask.
3. If you googled it, we figure it out.
In general, with simple questions, it will take less time to figure it out yourself than to describe the situation to the one we ask.
In complex issues, sometimes a couple of days is not enough to figure it out, and there asking a question to all possible sources is quite acceptable, IMHO.

Depends on:
1) your goals.
2) The type of question.
If you want to develop as a professional and you still have -1st level questions, then you need to search on your own, try, experiment, etc. And last but not least, ask.
If the question is technical and complex, then there is another resource *without schoolchildren who are too lazy to google and Yandex advertising*, which cannot be named here, although the BMW Cossack is not a competitor, but still it is impossible. But this is not your case yet, as I understand it.

Spend an hour and get smarter or spend 5 minutes and not get smarter, that's the question...

See what the goal is. If you need to urgently solve a complex one-time problem, then you can ask. And if you want to learn how to solve such problems - then you have to figure it out yourself.
Looking at the questions here, you can see that many of the questioners do not know how to read the documentation, they are afraid to experiment, and sometimes they just want everything to be done for them.

You can remember something ... so that you seem smart on occasion ...
You can’t become smart in this way, that’s the trouble.

Maybe I'm a little selfish, but if there is an opportunity to strain someone, then it's better to do it, because time is the most valuable resource))
