SparQL - relevant?

SPARQL

Today at the university I learned that in the PHP course we will also be given SparQL. I briefly read about this technology on Wikipedia, but did not fully understand the principle. But, something else
is of interest: - how relevant and applicable in real life / in projects is this technology?
- if relevant, in what areas/directions/parts of the project is it applied?
PS. I would be grateful if you share good material from your personal archive on sparql. I'm more interested in either an article for complete dummies with a complete analysis of RDF and sraql principles, or some book.

I think it's relevant.
Vzyakie databases according to data from Wikipedia and OCM use it in my opinion.
For example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBpedia
