Software vs hardware RAID NAS4FREE?

Hello!
There is a server on SuperMicro X8ST3-F, the Adaptec A5805 controller is installed in it. At the moment, nas4free is running on the server for home use. The question arose what is better to do: raise hardware RAID on adaptec or software zfs in nas4free? At the moment, hardware RAID6 has been created on 5 disks. As far as I understand, in nas4free I can format a ready-made raid into zfs and use it, but I'm interested in what will be more reliable in this context of hardware and software.
The NAS will be used as a file storage, torrent server, media server.

I'm for ZFS for reasons of its add. functionality. If it is not needed, the hard drive will be less cumbersome to maintain.
