"Smart home", but where are the homemade products?

There are a lot of posts on Habré about "Smart Home", here - a new system, here - I made the control of sockets.
There is even more of this on the network, but offers for sale and installation prevail, which is understandable.

But nowhere. Nowhere! There are no examples of working code.
Something like this:
“Guys, I made such a cool thing from the “Smart Home” category. I took such and such iron, connected it like this.
Here is a sample code to turn on/off a light bulb. And here is for the toaster.

At least in this way, it would be possible to learn something, to pick up something. It’s not interesting to have everything ready.

Maybe I'm looking bad, not there?

Elementary same: it's too expensive.
The minimum home-made "smart home" will take 100 thousand (for all sorts of sensors, cameras, actuators, electric locks).
And if you also want the house to bring you slippers to be completely “smart”, then homemade will cost more than the house itself. And to order someone - so in general dreams ...

IMHO, if you are somehow familiar with microcontrollers, then there are no problems with the code at all. Turn on a light bulb with a relay? He gave a logical unit to the leg - that's all.

There are a lot of articles on this subject here. I also recommend checking out the forum.
