Site geolocation extension. How not to lose positions in the search?

Hello. There is a website site.ru, which was originally sharpened for St. Petersburg, has top results for a number of queries. The company goes to Moscow and Novosibirsk, subdomains are created for each branch: spb.site.ru, msk.site.ru and nsk.site.ru. Accordingly, all content from site.ru goes to spb.site.ru.
How not to lose search results for St. Petersburg, you just can’t do a redirect, do you need site.ru for searching in Russia and spb.site.ru for St. Petersburg?

Create a site mirror on the St. Petersburg subdomain. Make it the main mirror. Replace the non-primary mirror with a new site with a search in the Russian Federation. This will help mitigate the consequences, but positions will still fall.

Andrey, I would leave site.ru like this for Peter + added the region of the Russian Federation in the webmaster + we deliver within the Russian Federation in meta tags.
The desired search in the Russian Federation is just a Wishlist that is not implemented without offices in the cities you need.
Only subdomains (or subfolders) will save the situation with regions. And site.ru, which will be displayed throughout the Russian Federation, is very difficult, expensive, and not effective. Oh yes, prepare a budget for the uniqueization of content for each spb.site.ru, msk.site.ru and nsk.site.ru subdomain. Send the website address (contacts on my page), I will offer a more detailed solution.
