Show examples of the most complex discussion threads on Habré
Hello!
I came up with a way to curb the complexity of tree-like discussions in replies to topics (topics). This method already works in Firefox and tomorrow the solution for any browser (even IE 8-9) will be posted at the same place.
For testing by readers, the most complex and branched discussion branches are searched for in Habr (usually these are discussion topics with a lot of controversy). I remember there were such, but by tomorrow they can only be found by the collective mind :). At the same time, the branches can be tested before the release of the article (tomorrow).
The place where to download and install the forum reader in Firefox is: userstyles.org/styles/36690 - Habr Zen-Comment.
UPD: the article is posted here: habrahabr.ru/blogs/css/131642/ .
I will write out the given examples in descending order of complexity here (those that are, maybe enough, but I want to see and test the pearls):
Why geeks should switch to Linux (870 comm., new CSS is enough to understand nodes, somewhere at the limit)
Android version updates: sad statistics (250 comm., many branches)
Node.js is a cancerous tumor (340 comm. ., good branching and discussions)
Lies about computer scientists: what do they write about us? (200 comms, 400 K texts)
Vogue magazine hack or video player for 119 rubles (900 comms, few branches) is a good illustration of the help of augmented CSS from user styles - while the nodes on the branch are no more than 3 and last no more than a few screens, everything is perfectly tracked by vertical stripes.
Even more modern C++ (160 comments, there is a well branched and deeply nested thread)
Source codes of 3300 global Internet projects were obtained (900 comments, the most highly rated topic, text - 1.5 MB)
Attack on the free Internet in Ukraine: Law of Ukraine "On the protection of public morality" (4 branches, 200 comments, decently branching)
Signs bad programmer (250 comm., few branches, 5-6 branches)
And here is an example of a seemingly numerous discussion, but with a small number of branches (just looked at “best of the week”):
How I built the first analog client for twitter (150 comm. , there are branches, but simple ones)
Broadcast from Let's Talk iPhone (a lot of photos, total traffic - 6 MB; there are relatively few branches; 430 comm.)
Finally, a branch too complicated even for CSS crutches:
What do you need to completely switch from windows to linux? (1400 comments, 2.5 MB of one text), but it's better with them than without them.
A criminal case will be initiated against an anonymous user of Habrahabr (900 comments, also hard to read even in improved CSS)
Why do you use Linux? (700 comm., at the beginning - it is difficult to keep track of the nodes, because scrolling to the next sub-branch is 12-15 screens.)
