Should you buy vBulletin 5?

On May 14, 2013, I received a letter in the mail that the vBulletin forum engine was released, at the same time they gave me a promo code for a $25 discount, valid until May 31.

I am considering a product option for $249 (-$25).

Does it make sense to take it? (For myself) I
used to sit on the zero 3-ke for a long time and the forum completely and completely suited me.
I am also aware of the history of creation, owners, formation of XenForo, etc.

It makes sense to take a license in any case, because it opens access to a wonderful resource vbulletin.org, where there are a bunch of different mods, manuals for working with the engine, etc.
But regarding the version - I would stay on 3.8.x (when buying a license for the new version, all the old ones are also available) - this branch is stable in terms of security, and all the little things from 5.x type of integration with the facebook, firstly, are not very relevant to us , secondly, they can be hung with mods. Taking into account the frequency with which security fixes began to appear after changing the team to 4.x, we can conclude that the team is rather clumsy, and looking at how many bugs are being corrected in 5.x right now, it is concluded that the situation has not changed . IB ruined, unfortunately a good product.

If there are no serious problems and holes in the old version, then I would prefer to stay on the old version. Especially if everything suits her.
But if this forum is more for pampering and it's interesting to play with new features, then you can update it.
