Should the number of links in an HTML sitemap be less than 200?
Question about HTML (not XML!) sitemap size. There is ancient information on the Internet that the number of links on one page of such a map should not exceed 200. It is argued that search engines will not read more links on the page.
The objectives of such a map:
1. Simplify site navigation for people.
2. Reduce the nesting level of ALL pages to a maximum of 3.
The essence of the question is whether a map with more than 200 links in size will solve problem No. 2?
Do search engines still have a limit of 200 links per page?
UPD: In order to avoid unnecessary digressions on the topic "how to make a sitemap", I leave only one simple question:
What is the maximum number of links that can be taken into account (read) by search engines from one page?
Answer options:
1. There is no such information in the public domain.
2. Maximum (number), information from here (proof).

All recommendations and advice about the quality of sites are given by search engines in the webmaster, as well as in the help. As far as I remember, neither Yandex nor Google has anything about limits of 200 links.
The objectives of such punishment:
1. To simplify the navigation of the site for people.
2. Reduce the nesting level of ALL pages to a maximum of 3.
