Should JavaScript be disabled on the dark web?

Hello, I decided to go to the dark web, and everyone advises immediately to completely disable JavaScript. However, I experienced some difficulties with the sites. For example, even the DuckDuckGo search engine refused to work for me without JavaScript enabled. Question: is it really so dangerous to surf with JavaScript and I can be hacked literally on the third site? And why is he so dangerous?
