Should _id be turned off in a release?

Today an article or an answer caught my eye, it’s a pity that I didn’t save the link, where the author claimed that it was necessary to disable it in the _id of the release version and that it was even written about it in the docks. I'm not a very good translator, that's why I'm asking - is it really necessary to turn off _id and what is the release version of mongoose? In the docks, under the description, after the code, there is something that is not entirely clear to me -

Note that currently you must disable the _id

@vasIvas

mongoose is such a thing that there is always something to disable. The same autoIndex also needs to be disabled in production. Therefore, if it is written to turn off _id, then it must be turned off.
