Should I work with Drupal7?

I really like Drupal7, but I'm afraid of what will happen next with support. I tried version 8 and was horrified - on my server (quite fast) I see an unpleasant picture of page loading - slowly. Drupal 7 - loads instantly.
But I don’t see an alternative, maybe something simple and fast appeared similar to Drupal (not a framework, not a mod)?

A few considerations to help you make your choice:
Drupal 7 will be supported for quite some time - 3-4 years at least.
There is a fork of drupal 7: https://backdropcms.org/
Drupal 8 works quite well. Yes, it is technically more difficult and requires a higher qualification from the developer, but it is not slower, and it also has more advanced caching.
In general, it seems to me that it is necessary to develop and master Drupal 8, but it is quite possible to do projects on 7 as well.

Try October CMS and I agree with you about Druapl 8, hosting under 8 can be configured a little.
