Should I take on Node.js to save time?

You need to write a small server script. I know JS, PHP once taught. Or is there a bunch of hemorrhoids with Node.js?

That's a bunch of hemorrhoids. If the script is simple - better in PHP.

If you need a small script, it is better to write it on something that you have already studied and are familiar with the foundation. Plus for php there is a lot of information and ready-made solutions, which will simplify the task.
If you want to write a back-end in the future, then you should choose the option that you like syntactically and take into account the main pros and cons of the platforms.
Here is a highly biased review of node vs php. Perhaps the decisive factor will be the low entry threshold into php.
