Should I switch from kde to icewm?

KDE, 2GB RAM. If you open a browser and turn on music or video, ~ 1.5GB is already eaten. Would switching from kde to icewm really help? And will it be possible to go back without problems on kde?

And where does kde if the memory is eaten when you start Google Chrome? With the same success, you can kick the wheel in the car, suddenly the chrome will stop eating memory

If you don't want the browser to eat up RAM - use links2/lynx, 2 GB of RAM with the current gluttonous browsers is extremely small.
Switching to tiled or minimalist WMs will give you 2-4 tabs or one with YouTube/gmail (Debian Buster amd64 - Sneakers eat up about 500 MB for me).

yes, you can at least put all the graphical shells and switch between them

I have debian + i3wm + chromium (Yandex music) = 900mb eats RAM, if you also turn on YouTube at the same time, then 1.1gb
just i3wm eats 200mb
RAM is cheap, take another 4gb bar (maybe even on ali)
