Should I study Python further or choose something else?

What would be advised in the following situation: if I studied python for several months and even wrote a small site on flask + mysql, and now I tried to solve mathematical problems (olympiad) and python turned out to be slow. Previously, I did not attach importance to this, but then I came across.

That's right, pick something else. McDuck, for example.

Python is not slow! Either you don't know how to cook it, or you put it where you don't need it.
Highly loaded sites and applications in Python / Django (29 projects).
If you like python then learn it. Now there are enough orders for freelancing, and there are vacancies in companies.

If you want to solve "mathematical problems (Olympiad)" all your life, then choose something else.
Threat solution of Olympiad problems, practically does not intersect with what "ordinary" programmers face.

Have you tried asking yourself a question - will I earn money by riveting websites or solving Olympiad problems?
