Should I put an application on Google Play for the company's clients?

There is an application for the service, it shows the balance, status and so on. Solely for the convenience of customers (no more than 5,000 people). I think that 200-300 people will download it. Should I publish this application on Google Play or distribute it via .apk file from my own server? How to do it better?

When distributing not through Google Play, there are these pitfalls:
1) Do all potential users have permission to install not from Google Play?
2) Are you ready to explain how to do this very permission?
3) How will you update?

There are no minuses except minuses: random downloaders who are not clients will downvote.

In place of your customer, I would ask you to lay out: you never know what will happen to you and your server?
Although I can't imagine the downsides of putting it on Google Play.

Don't mess with the play market.
If necessary, make a mobile site.

Perhaps distribution through Google Play is the only reasonable choice, because. in the case of adhoc distribution, you will simply be deprived of feedback from users and if a critical error occurs in the application, you will not be able to update it to users and the client will be lost forever.
