Should I change iPhone 4 to Nokia Lumia 900?
Hi %username%, I have a question for you.
I have an iPhone 4. I'm a little tired, I want something new. That year there was an attempt to switch to Android (SGSII), it failed miserably, and returned to the iPhone again.
Now it's tempting to touch Nokia with its WP7.
And now the questions:
-Is there infa, will WP8 get there?
-How are the applications? Is it sad or something interesting has already appeared?
-What is the time of real work in Russian realities?
-How do you feel about the phone? Like?
Thank you!

I vote iPhone. I twisted this "lumiya", after the iPhone - not mine. Sorry for the personal opinion, not a detailed answer.
-WP8 in its current state will obviously not get up there, and all these rumors about wp8 on mobile devices are still at the level of rumors.
-Apps are sad. The most mainstream things are done without problems (twitterok, mail, etc.), but with extravagant things (ala instagram and all that) it is already problematic.
-Working time is much better than androids. For 2-3 days of active use is enough.
- I didn’t like Nokia, I have Samsung Omnia W. Nokia is heavily promoted, but in comparison with Samsung, it plays in everything. The screen was very important to me, and in the Samsung it's just great. But in Nokia, it is covered with rounded plastic, from which it feels as if the finger does not touch the screen. In general, the touch is too high from the screen itself and I did not like it. The 8MP camera also turned out to be worse than the Samsung 5MP one.
Essentially already painted. From experience with the lumia 800, my subjective opinion is by no means. The iPhone is as far ahead of WP as Mercedes and BMW are of Avtovaz. There are goodies in the interface, but in general an extremely crude platform.
1. No one will tell you exactly, but judging by the rumors, the update will be
2. It's sad, especially compared to the AppStore
3. 1 day
4. Like
It's based on Lumia 800, but I think they don't differ much.
1. All at the level of rumors, yes. But for some reason it seems to me that there will be no update - given the history of
2. Quite sad, unfortunately. With games - very bad, with applications - just bad.
3. Once a day, with especially active use, you will charge. Well, like the iPhone, in principle.
4. Tactile and visual - mimimi. One of the cutest and most enjoyable devices on the market.
I also thought about a phone with wp7, from samsung for 12. But after a friend let me touch the device ...
My opinion: wp7 is a complete disappointment.
This sometimes happens to iPhone owners - they think that there is something better than IOS, but the reality is disappointing ...
wp7 is too file-finished, it is positioned as an OS for phones that have the main function of calling and sms + browser. you can watch the video here .
All popular social networks except Instagram are ok, a phone with wifi / 2g / navigation for a day from 7 to 18 sits halfway somewhere for me.
pluses of nokia in chic maps and navigator, the minus is that there is no front camera as in omnia w.
while minus the platform - Skype does not live in the background, and tethering is not active in Nokia, we are waiting for updates.
7.6 promises tighter integration with Skype (I hope that it will be possible to call a contact via Skype directly from the contact as in android) and work in the background, but so far these are rumors.
We are waiting for June, wp7.x will most likely be released with the next rc win8.
and about to look and touch - go to the store and play around)
Write what applications you use on iPhone 4. If this list overlaps with analogues from WP, then you can go.
Thanks everyone. It's a pity there is no service like "Rent a phone for a week for 500 rubles." By the way, what do you think? ;)
I will look in the store and feel / poke. By the way, 800 from 900 externally / tactilely very different?
Would rate the state of WP as between Android and iOS, but closer to iOS. In principle, the difference is the same as on desktops. Windows out of the box is more convenient just to use than Linux, but worse than Mac OS.
At first, the feeling of WP was WOW, fast, good toys that appear pretty quickly, after all, the development platform is similar to XBox and Windows.
Cons:
For example, a completely pointless link to the Zune, which I had a couple of times buggy and did not see the device, fortunately on ubuntu the device is seen simply as storage.
Almost complete lack of work with USSD. That is, by typing *100#, seeing a menu with options there, WP does not give you an option for this choice, stupidly there is no answer field.
A terribly inconvenient hardwired search button that is pressed all the time by accident and unconditionally throws you into the browser on the Yandex page.
Many applications are ported rather poorly. The developers do not invest heavily in the development for WP7 yet, as a result they implement only the main functionality without goodies. On the same Yamaps, there are no accident and road works icons.
From the good:
Very fast platform.
The infrastructure is developing, and very quickly, the Market is still losing to the apple one, but it is growing before our eyes.
