Should I buy macbook air 13 or buy macbook pro 13 retina for work/study?

Welcome all!
I'm going to buy a macbook, I'm thinking of buying a 13 inch version. Should I buy an air 13 or save up and buy a pro 13 with a retina screen? And is it even worth taking a 13 inch laptop for work/study? How comfortable are they to work with?
