Sharing a powerful computer in the family. What is the best way to organize?

Background: My work is
connected with the active use of virtual machines, as well as the launch of specific software that requires a lot of computing (processor power)
rendering power.
In addition, each has a laptop + I have a small i5 nettop to which two monitors are connected. The main work as well as the routine (Internet, work with documents) will be performed on laptops and netops. When a server is needed, we simply turn it on and work.
It was decided not to buy 2 top-end computers, but to save money, purchase a standard server motherboard for 2 sockets and with the possibility of installing two video cards for SLI
. The server will be placed in a separate room and a gigabit home network will be laid to it.
The question arose of how to organize access to these capacities for two people at the same time. The following scenarios should be implemented:
1. One person occupies the entire computer
2. Two people sit at the same time and use computing resources equally.
3. Two people sit at the same time and one is allocated more resources than the second.
4. Each person should have their own workspace (their own software, their own environment settings)
Possible solutions:
1. Organize RDP access for two or more clients at the same time. As far as I understand, this feature is built into Windows and can be implemented in server versions of the OS.
2. Raising two virtual machines, but here we immediately encounter problems with forwarding a video card and simultaneously using it by two or more users.
While in search of the optimal solution.

I just read some heresy. The best solution is to buy another computer.

a server motherboard with two processors, two video cards, "server" memory will be more expensive than two computers

RDP and two users.
Connection via RDP allows all versions of Windows, including non-server versions except for Home and Starter.
Connection of several users is possible only in terminal server mode, this is only in server versions. At home, this possibility is blocked, although blocking takes a couple of minutes, so if license purity is not required, you can use a regular non-server OS.

Didn't see the point.
1. Server hardware will cost much more.
2. Even a super-shmuper-gigabit network is slower than direct work with a live SSD or a live video card in a PCI slot.
3. Hemorrhoids with settings, unforeseen nuances in the operation of specific software, etc.

I connected 3 sets of monitor, mouse, keyboard, to an ordinary home computer, and parallelized 3 users with some kind of easily googled software, everything worked perfectly, it was possible to play the same game on all 3 at the same time, the load increased linearly.
So if you don’t have these jobs far, then you can do this, well, or pull, in general, it’s also an option, but it’s already borderline and steamy.

Give up SLI and throw separate video cards into virtual machines

Get a bushy comp on eBay, a server. It will cost much cheaper, and everyone will trample on the neighbor's chickens! Take video cards where it seems more reliable to you, by the way, in 4u cases there are mothers with 4 or more 16x holes ....;) (reliable seller: digitalmind2000 ) I do not pretend to be the ultimate truth, only as an option.
And here is an article of the hairy year, it will help you to sit in 2 at the same time :)

Well, or ESXI and forward the video cards and ports to it and plug in a mouse with a keyboard and a monitor, and most from the ESXI interface web to work through one of the virtual machines.
