Shared hosting, cloud server or VPS - how to choose your sandbox?

I'm starting from scratch, don't get angry if the question is a bit stupid :)
I want to organize something like a sandbox for myself, with blackjack and backups, online, in order to test everything and everything in it, from mysql + php to Go and NodeJS. Those. there will be diverse projects that are not tied to one technology stack: a mini-shop, a back for an android application, some kind of online app with a database and ratings, a telegram bot, etc.
As far as I understand, shared hosting is designed only for the CMS + PHP stack, which is not entirely suitable. VPS is a little confusing in that you have to manually set / configure everything (MB am I mistaken?). But, on the other hand, it will probably be a good experience for the future. Perhaps there are some other solutions?
I would be grateful if you direct me on the path of righteousness with a humane price tag: 3

The developer must be able to customize the environment. The answer is obvious, I hope.

You can start with hosting, eventually moving to virtual machines. Grab "everything and more" at once, it's not worth it, and it's not necessary at the beginning.
There are no difficulties in setting up virtual machines. As a rule, the "seller" offers you a choice of operating systems that will be installed with a basic set of software. It's not uncommon for this to happen. But if not, then there are plenty of guides on the Internet, and after hosting you will already roughly understand what you need to install and how.

You can't know everything.
Therefore, decide in advance what exactly you want: to study everything a little bit all your life (and still not become a guru), or to be able to do something specific at the professional level. There is also an easy option - to be able to do something specific at the level of an amateur, but at a sufficient level to solve your specific problem .
The first option is for the analyst. The second option is for a specialist. The third option is when you need cheap and fast (i.e. spending your time and money to a minimum ).
For mysql+php google "hosting for 12 rubles".
For more complex things, you need to select VPS / VDS for the task.

Hosting - for those who know exactly what he needs. Hosting always has software of a certain version and convincing the hoster to change / expand / patch it is a task that is not unrealistic, but problematic.
VPS - just a virtual machine in tyrnet somewhere ... Access via VNC / SSH - and do what you want. You can take a bare console for minimal money and play it yourself. You can take the control panel for a minimal surcharge (and sometimes they give it for free). Here you are your own administrator, what you want to put.
The "humanity" of the price tag strongly depends on your understanding of it.
For example, I have 1 CPU, 1G RAM, 50G disk (KVM) in Holland costs 500 rubles / month. To me, it's humane.

It’s not that it makes sense to take VPS for a start, but it’s worth taking xelent, if you need RF, there are few good hosters
