Setting up the touchpad in Ubuntu as in Windows
There is Ubuntu 12.04 or will be 12.10. Lenovo Edge 14 laptop with big good Synaptics touchpad. But good only under Windows. Under Ubuntu, the touchpad is just as big, but it's virtually impossible to use. Literally everything is wrong, but this is “not so” quite objectively - for example, the cursor under the finger trembles and when I select a small button (close tab), I literally miss - I fly over the button. At low speeds, the sensitivity is too high, at least.
In the standard touchpad adjustment applet, the sensitivity is at zero.
Is it possible to configure the touchpad to "like in Windows"?

Fine tuning can be done with the help of synclient (it will be saved until the Xs are rebooted), using it to select the optimal parameters. It seems to me that you are interested in HorizHysteresis, HorizResolution, MinSpeed, MaxSpeed, AccelFactor, MinSpeed, MaxSpeed and AccelFactor, more details in man synaptics
Then write the values you like to some new file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/55 -synaptics-lenovo-edge.conf
Maybe someone will come in handy www.linuxrussia.com/2014/10/touchpad-settings-ubun...
