Search vpn with logs, or how to track application requests without root. (Android)?

I didn’t really want to root the phone yet, because it’s still new. There is a rooted device, but this application does not work on it. And I really want to dig into the requests)) I
got an idea: set up a VPN on the phone, then just view the logs.
BUT! I didn't find a VPN with logs (Maybe someone knows one?) Not expensive, preferably free))
Can you create it yourself? .. is it possible to enter logs on OpenVPN?
