The levels that Odersky gives on the old site are completely unsuitable for testing knowledge. Most likely, he invented them just to show that for the productive use of the Rock it is not necessary to climb into the wilds - maybe in 2011 it was topical, now any normal person understands this. Criticism from Tony Morris , in principle, is justified, but what he offers looks no better.
In general, Scala is a fairly minimalistic language in the sense that there are not many specifics. Rather, more advanced developers have more advanced techniques and libraries, know the strengths and weaknesses of a particular approach. The humor lies in the fact that even among the "experts" there is no consensus even on very basic questions, such as "Future or Actor".
