SATA 3 HDD and old motherboard (SATA 1) [Solved: VT8237 can't and that's it]
Bought; hard drive SEAGATE Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB, SATA III
It works fine in my new computer, but I really want to put it in my old one.
And the old one can only SATA 1.
There are no jumpers on the HDD.
In the manual, Seagate says: “It is usually not necessary to set any jumpers on the drive for
proper operation; however, if you connect the drive and receive a “drive not detected” error, your SATA-equipped
motherboard or host adapter may use a chipset that does not support SATA speed autonegotiation.”
Please advise what you can try to come up with, except how to buy a SATA controller?
Thanks in advance!

If the board is not based on VIA VT8237, then there should be no problems, as well as a visible decrease in speed.
