Resume parsing - where to dig?

Hello. There was a need to write a resume parser from job sites. The resume comes in the form of doc/pdf files from which you need to extract information, such as full name, age, work experience, etc.
Tell me - in which direction is it worth digging?
I tried using regular expressions, but maybe there are better options?
