Well, the photo in VK is left. link is needed. but if the link was not transferred anywhere / was not saved, etc., then you can’t restore it in any way.

Try contacting tech support. All dialogs and attachments are stored for more than 3 years.

No standalone options? I read on Habré an article about this a couple of years ago, the author described how to find a link to a deleted photo.

if you know the link to the photo, then the photo will always be available on it even if you delete the dialogue, even on the mobile client the dialogues are cached and often you can get a lot there when everything has already been cleaned up in the desktop version
