Responsibility of the programmer for the program

At once I will make a reservation I ask a question more for interest.

The listener told a story. She works in a taxi service on call. Their owners ordered a program for the control room. It cost them 300 tr. But the program hangs once every half a year and they have to pay for the call and service to the former programmer or his student.

1. What can be done to correct the situation.
2. Whether they overpaid.
3. What programs are there to support taxis and how much do they cost.

PS The hosts have already changed. And the new "without eggs" so they probably won't do anything. This is so for the general development, and if suddenly the new owners completely ruin everything and someone will undertake to do the service from scratch.

Or maybe the taxi drivers have buggy iron, the programmer is to blame here? And in general, everything should be written in the license agreement. And there is usually a disclaimer.

I myself am developing software for automating a taxi fleet, and believe me, 300 tr. for the development of such software is not much. Infiniti sells its product to so many cities. This is not the production of a program to order, but the purchase of a finished product. Some lift much more than 300 tons.
In particular, we have a small team of 3 people. Calculate how much a year of development will cost, if you take the meager salary of one programmer, at least 20 tr. But I don’t even take capital salaries for calculation.

1. Try to resolve this issue with the one who was paid. With a programmer or his student, for example. To debug the program. There is basically nothing more to do here. It is unlikely to sue, I would be a millionaire if I sued Microsoft for every bsod.
2. It seems to me that they overpaid, and much. One of my acquaintances opened his own taxi and initially he didn’t have that kind of money at all. For the whole business, even, I am silent about the software.
3. They used www.taxi-infinity.ru it should be cheaper, and much cheaper.

Since the owners are satisfied, then there is no need to “correct the situation”. The program, from the point of view of all but some programmers, is a tool for solving problems, for doing business, and not a work of art.
No one seems to be embarrassed that the same cars in the taxi depot require repair and maintenance every year.

1. Что можно сделать чтобы исправить положение.

You can (even probably need to) contact the developer of the program (or whoever maintains it) and find out why it is buggy, and ask to fix the program if possible.
2. Не переплатили ли они.

If the program was developed for them under the order, then it is even cheap.

the approach was demonstrated - I want a job for a hundred thousand. And what to do, it doesn’t matter.
It seems to me that the work of a programmer on order, as in the example above, is a relic of the nineties, when there were a lot of engineers and they had to eat something. Then the cost of a programmer's work was low. It was then that the triumph of 1s began, which, as you know, has no analogues in the world.
From the standpoint of common sense, writing programs to order is the same as writing a personal story for each reader. Previously, as many kings could afford it - they kept court writers and poets. Now the cost of writing a small program is such that without at least some circulation, its creation is economically meaningless.
By the way, the lack of funding is one (of many) reasons for the curve of the program. The developer is trying to squeeze into a modest budget. It works out only obvious situations and at the slightest deviation from the work scheme, the program hangs tightly.
conclusion - you need to use circulation solutions and try to build your work scheme for them as much as possible.
