Replacing the microcircuit (flash module) on the Zune HD player. Really?

Far from this area. There is a simple question: is it possible to replace (with a more capacious, for example) flash memory (toshiba th58nvg7d2ela89, was still in the iPhone 3G) on a Zune HD device.

What is needed for this? Pros, cons, problems, "pitfalls"?

OK, let's think again:
1. Here they write that a 16-gigabyte chip costs $32. We translate into rubles, multiply by two (you need 32 gigs), and you have two such chips, = 4000 rubles. (without shipping and inflation!).
2. If you search on the net, for soldering one decent chip in a BGA package, all sorts of services (repair of laptops, phones) take around 4000 rubles. You have two such chips, = 8000 rubles.
3. Suppose a unique work on a small edit of an unknown firmware (with a margin) is 0.5 CHD of a decent reverser (at retail prices of about $ 100 per hour) = 12,000 rubles. At other prices, there will either be no deadlines, or there will be no result, or neither.
Total it turns out: 24000 r.
This istwo iPods 6g classic for 160 gigs each (just think, white and black!), And there will be one more headphones of the corresponding class.
Or: any suitable player on the market, plus several SDXC cards for it, with a total capacity of up to 512 GB (half a terabyte!!!) and the same headphones, and so on.

This is purely theoretically possible, but completely unprofitable.
1) You need to get a replacement chip somewhere (probably at horse prices). The maximum capacity of Toshiba chips from this series is 32 gigabytes (TH58NVG8D2ELA89), indicated in the figure TH58NVG7D2ELA89 is 16 GB (128 Gb, as is commonly considered the amount of memory in bits :) )
2) We need to find those who agree to resolder (this is not cheap service -- soldering delicate chips in BGA packages).
3) You need to modify the player's firmware to support the required volume (reverse engineering, an expensive service).
And no one can guarantee the result.
