Relationship between Inofblock and Highload block: how to filter?

There is an info block with the layouts of an apartment building. There are HL with finishes.
One layout can have several types of finishes.
HL fields:

• title;
  
• link;
  
• image;
  
• foreign key ("Binding to info block elements" property).
  

The connection between them occurs through a foreign key in HL ("Binding to elements of info blocks" property). Communication is not reflected in IB (this is not a reference book).
How to implement the ability to filter the Infoblock with layouts by types of finishes, if the link is specified in HL? Using catalog.smart.filter.
I did it this way (didn't use the "Reference" property type), because it seemed to me that in the conditions of several types of finishes it couldn't be done differently. I'm right?
