Increasingly, thoughts come that it's time to change the phone. I now have an Xperia Ray, it would be more powerful and more RAM, there would be no thought of replacing it, but I got tired of the constant brakes, and after using Note 10.1 for a week, I realized how a real android should work.
The choice would seem to be simple, if not for one condition - size. I categorically do not accept spatula phones.
In total, the minimum requirements:
Android 4.x
2-core processor
1GB of RAM
screen no more than 4 inches, optimally - 3.5
The case is either metal or high-quality plastic. There is no gloss anyway.
Roughly speaking, we need a more powerful analogue of Xperia Ray.
I myself searched, but they turn out either 5-inch shovels, or something too budget. At least take an iPhone 5 and buy it.
The price is not critical.

With slightly larger screens - Nexus 4, HTC One S. Both feel very good. And not shovels.
Galaxy Nexus? True, they are not available now - almost no new ones are imported, and imported ones are quickly sold out.
Sony Xperia Z, HTC One, HTC Butterfly J, Meizu MX2 (which, by the way, is preferable based on screen size requirements).
Alas, there are none, unfortunately. I'm sitting on the Xperia U myself. There is not enough power, but there is nothing worthy more than 3.5. Before that, there was htc 4.3 - big. But even among 4.0, which, in principle, will fit, there is only the ungodly sgs3 mini, which is unpleasant to hold in your hands. Gigantomania, of course, is depressing.
I asked a similar question last year. The choice fell on the flagship from Sony Xperia S.
I used it as the main phone for only a week. Back to iOS...
if China is not scary, then you can look at these models.
Meizu MX
Xiaomi MI 1S
JiaYu G2s
JiaYu G2 (there are 2 versions with 512MB and 1 GB RAM)
Recently I was choosing a new device for myself, I also wanted a screen that was not very large and had adequate filling, but I quickly discovered that a screen of up to 4 inches narrows down the choice a lot - there are almost no powerful devices. I had to take from 4.3
Take the Nexus 4 and don't worry, get used to the size in a couple of days. In terms of the totality of parameters, this is the best that is for this price, IMHO.
If moisture protection is important, see the latest xperia.
I’m looking at Lenovo: the design is nice, and they don’t spare space for the battery, it’s a pity that all models with a screen size up to 4.5 "(and there are enough of them) come with 512MB of memory
the quality there is random - yes ... it can be very good, or maybe horror is horror.
You puzzled me and I spent several hours searching :)
Here's what I found: JIAYU G2S, MTK6577T
I took a Land Rover 02, which I liked:
a shockproof and moisture-resistant
phone Android 4.2
2 SIM cards
4-core percent
1 gigabyte of RAM
3.5" screen
case - high-quality rubberized plastic, ribbed on the sides,
powerful battery 4000 mAh does not fall out of the hands
there is a built-in walkie-talkie, compass, flashlight, etc.
here are all the characteristics:

here prices are low, 1 year warranty, good reviews and delivery without prepayment.
