I strongly recommend the book “CCS. Programming Recipes, Christopher Schmitt.
I use it as a reference book very often. Everything is there - from the basics, ending with CCS3 and solving common problems (transparent PNGs in ie6, rounded corners, etc)

You can quickly get to a good basic/intermediate level by reading The Big Book of CSS (David Sawyer McFarland).

Just reading a book is useless. Start typing and google the questions that arise - then you yourself will find worthwhile books and resources :)
Although the paper version of one of the proposed books is also worth buying for reading in your spare time.
