Reading Windows Software Raid disks (Dynamic disks) in Linux
Hello everyone, me again.
I wanted to move to Linux here, but there was a problem: out of the box, Mint \ Debian \ Mint Debian did not want to see my favorite hard drives (software raid on Win 7). Tell me, how is it possible to mount disks \ read data without using additional media?

Maybe. Apparently, you will need to rebuild the kernel, enabling the CONFIG_LDM_PARTITION option in it (in kconfig it is called "Windows Logical Disk Manager")
I have a debian sid and CONFIG_LDM_PARTITION is enabled there, correspondingly such volumes are mounted, but not any truth.
Look in /boot/config... for that.
A couple of years ago I tried to mount a Win7 dynamic disk, but ran into a problem. It turns out that in WinXP and Win7 the versions of LDM are different, which is what the Linux ldm cursed at (the seven have ldm 2.12, and XP 2.11). At that time, I didn’t find a solution and acted easier, a simple sata raid controller was lying around for a couple of disks, I raised a “hardware” raid on it, it still works.
In general, everything is strange with dynamic disks, to be honest, it’s already better to buy some kind of adapter thread for a hundred bucks and stick screws into it if you need a raid.
