RAID: Hardware vs Software?
There is a server HP DL 160 G6, a small web hosting is spinning.
Now raid 1 from SATA is configured on the built-in b110i.
This moment confuses because b110i is half software, half hardware.
The question is:
1) leave everything as it is
2) install a software raid
3) install a hardware raid, something like hp p410 or adaptec 5805. If hardware, what would you recommend hp p410 or adaptec 5805. A few
arguments please ...
Thank you!

Advantages of the software: great flexibility of settings, for example, you can keep part of the data from the disk in the raid, part not, or different parts in different raids, you can conveniently transfer from server to server, easily expand, easy to monitor.
Cons of software: lower performance, higher configuration complexity, no BBU.
Advantages of the hardware
: Higher speed, the OS does not see that this is a raid and works with a single disk, no need to support the raid by means of the system, not sensitive to sudden power loss thanks to BBU, supports various interesting features like CacheCade
stock one more raid controller in case of failure of the main one, price.
Pluses of your variant: already is and works, it is not necessary to do anything.
Cons: I collected cons from both approaches and there is not a single plus, a software crutch using bios, it sucks to restore, it is not immune from failures, there is no flexibility, there is no BBU, not a raid, but one name.
