Question about designing dynamic AI in games?

Good afternoon.
Recently I decided to study gamedev, I started with the unity3d engine and at the moment I have a question.
What approaches exist for writing "dynamic" (flexible) AI for various game objects?
Now in my head there is only one idea - the "State" pattern or a directed graph with a bunch of different behavior.
PS. Google on request complex / dynamic game AI does not give out anything sensible.

Google "intelligent agents", usually based on whatever God wants. From neural networks to swarm intelligence.
