Query optimization in yii2?

I am redoing the project using the old database of the site. The problem is that you need to load data from several tables at once, does yii2 optimize queries automatically or do you need to do it manually via JOIN?

install yii-debug and see if it optimizes or not. Who knows what's going on there?
