Only if for yourself. The S60 has no prospects for a long time.
If you are interested in such necrophilia, you can also look towards Qt SDK for S60 from Nokia. Very nice framework.

For itself, it works fine. Take assembly 2.0.0, it is with Python 2.5 inside. I worked on N5230&N5800.
But there are also bugs, some quite serious, that have not been fixed for a long time and, of course, will not be. For example, the problem python.su/forum/topic/6832 is still relevant, and just infuriates.
