Proxmox, KVM and shared disk storage as samba?
Hello!
Deployed a cluster running Proxmox - I want to make a shared network drive via Samba.
The shared network drive itself is stored on a disk array connected to one of the nodes via FC.
Between the nodes the channel is 1 gigabit.
I want to: store all virtual machines on a disk array and distribute them to other nodes via SAMBA.
How effective and acceptable?

Let's start with the fact that smb was not designed for this use case, which means it does not guarantee stable operation with this use. As part of testing - I do not see any barriers, you can use it. If it's a permanent or, God forbid, work environment, then you definitely need to upgrade to NFS or iSCSI.
ProxMox SMB connection is used for backups or ISO storage.

Bad idea. If you really want to do storage, then do it through iSCSI, not through Samba.
iSCSI works at the block level, Samba works at the file level.
As I see it, the only problem may be with speed. If there are only images of virtual machines, and the processed data is in another place, then this is quite acceptable. If the speed of working with a disk is critical, then Samba is far from the best place to store images.
