Protect a file from piracy?

For example, a script is bought and substituted into another application. In this case, it is possible to protect the script from piracy. After all, anyone can copy it from there and merge it onto the Internet.

Anything that gets to the end user can be spirited, even what is protected.
So the question is rather in a legal plane than in a technical one. Consult a lawyer.

Hello! I would do this: the script is hardwired into the application (each instance of the application has an ID generated when it is first launched and connected to the server), at startup the following operation:

  • There is a scriptLicense.txt file YES - let's move on, NO - well, we didn't buy the script
  • In the file - ID + code (when buying, a new file is generated programmatically each time and the ID + password code is sent to the server)
  • We send the ID to the server. The server checks for it. There is - further, no - the file is fake.
  • We send the password to the server. The server verifies the ID and password pairing. The bundle is the same - turn on the script, no - the file is fake.
